🏈Football Trak User’s Guide

Welcome to Football Trak! This guide covers every screen in detail so you can get the most out of the app.


Features at a Glance

  • Teams – Manage teams and players
  • Games – Record player actions during games with minimal clicks
  • Reports – View and compare team and game stats
  • Settings – Customize the app defaults

The menu bar helps you navigate through the app.


Teams Screen

Team List

  • View all your teams in a list.
  • Tap a team name to edit its details.
  • Tap the delete icon to remove a team.

Add Team

  • Tap Add to create a new team.
  • Enter the Team Name (required, up to 100 characters).
  • Enter a Location (optional).
  • Select a Team Type (Home or Visitor).
  • Tap Save to add the team to your list.

Players Screen

Player List

  • Open a team from the Teams screen, then tap Players.
  • View all players for that team sorted by jersey number.
  • Tap a player to edit or delete.

Add / Edit Player

  • Player Number (required, 0–99)
  • Player Name (required, up to 100 characters)
  • Position (optional, e.g., Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Linebacker, Safety)
  • Offense – Check if the player plays on offense
  • Defense – Check if the player plays on defense
  • Starter – Check if the player starts
  • Tap Save to update the roster.

Games Screen

Game List

  • View all your scheduled and completed games.
  • Tap a game to view or continue tracking.

Create a Game

  • Tap Add and enter:
  • Game Title (required, up to 100 characters)
  • Date & Time (required)
  • Location (optional)
  • Home Team
  • Visitor Team
  • Tap Save to open the Game Stats screen.

Game Stats Screen

This is the main game tracking screen where you record every play.

Screen Layout

Offense (OFF)

  • White boxes display offensive player jersey numbers.
  • Tap a box to select that player.
  • The app formats all jersey numbers as two digits (e.g., 02 instead of 2).
  • Numbers are sorted from smallest to largest.

Defense (DEF)

  • Dark gray boxes display defensive player jersey numbers.
  • Tap a box to select that player.
  • Same two-digit formatting and sorting as offense.

Scoreboard

Scores

  • Home and Visitor scores displayed in black boxes with white text.
  • Scoreboard starts at zero and supports up to three digits.
  • Tap the point buttons below each score box to add 1, 2, 3, or 6 points.

Game Clock

  • Center black box displays the game clock in MM:SS format.
  • Tap + or – to adjust the clock manually.
  • Clock controls:
    • Start (green arrow) – Begin the clock
    • Pause (pause icon) – Pause the clock
    • Stop (red square) – Stop the clock

Possession

  • Tap the football icons to toggle possession.
  • Green football = Team has the ball
  • White football = Team does not have the ball

Quarter Selection

  • Use the drop-down to select the quarter: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, OT1–OT5.

Game Actions

  • Blue boxes display game actions.
  • Tap the player’s number on the left, then tap the action.
  • Available actions:
    • Passing – Records a pass with yardage pop-up
    • Rushing – Records a rush with yardage pop-up
    • Receiving – Records a reception with yardage pop-up
    • Touchdown – Records a touchdown with yardage pop-up, updates score
    • Field Goal – Records a field goal with yardage pop-up, adds 3 points
    • Punt Return – Records a punt return with yardage pop-up
    • Tackle – Records a defensive tackle
  • The app updates the Play Log and scoreboard instantly after each action.

Player Swap

  • Tap the Player Swap icon (refresh symbol) at the bottom of the screen.
  • The Player Swap screen shows all players on the roster.
  • Green border = Active offense player
  • Red border = Active defense player
  • Choose 11 offense and 11 defense players.
  • Swap players anytime during the game.

Play-by-Play Log

  • The gray section at the bottom lists plays in chronological order.
  • Each line shows the player’s number, the action, and yardage (if applicable).
  • Tap the Undo button (red left arrow) to remove the last action.

Reports Screen

  • Tap Reports in the menu bar to view stats.
  • Available reports:
    • Team List – All teams at a glance
    • Team + Players – Full team rosters
    • Game Player Stats – Individual player performance stats per game, including passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, field goals, tackles, and more
  • Tap the filter icon to narrow results by date or team type.

Settings Screen

  • Tap Settings in the menu bar.
  • Adjust defaults:
    • Game Type – Set a default game format
    • Home Team – Set your default home team
    • Jersey Color – Choose your default jersey color
  • Switch to the Game Types tab to add or edit game formats.

Tips & Helpful Features

  • Undo – Reverse the last action with one tap from the Play-by-Play Log.
  • Substitutions – Use the Player Swap screen to rotate offense and defense players anytime.
  • Yardage Tracking – Football Trak automatically prompts for yardage on Passing, Rushing, Receiving, Touchdowns, Field Goals, and Punt Returns.
  • Play Review – Scroll the Play-by-Play Log to review every action recorded during the game.
